Rihanna's 2013 Tour Headed to San Diego

Diamonds may or may not be a girl's best friend. But the (for now) happily single Rihanna hopes to sparkle on her 2013 Diamonds World Tour, which will include an April 11 show at Valley View Casino Center (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena). Friday's announcement of the tour follows on the heels of her eye-popping performance Thursday night on the MTV Video Music Awards.

Tickets for Rihanna's san Diego show are priced at $35 to $121 each (plus service charges). They will go on sale Sept. 21 to the general public at all Ticketmaster outlets. a pre-sale for Citi card holders begins Monday (although the Citi web site does not yet have info posted, as of this writing, regarding the Rihanna pre-sale).

Hailed as a pop superstar by her many fans, and dismissed as a slick, all-eye-popping-style/little-substance pop confection by others, Rihanna has won six Grammy Awards and sold more than 37 million albums worldwide. her biggest success is online, where her songs have sold 146 million digital downloads. She currently has more than 25 million twitter followers and 60 million or so Faecbook friends.

Her 2011 "Loud" tour grossed a reported $90 million and was the seventh most successful tour of the year, according to Live Nation, which is also producing her Diamonds World Tour. No opening act has yet been announced for her 2013 trek, although it seems safe to predict her former boyfriend, Chris Brown, will not be on board.
