San Diego's first luxury gym FIT celebrates its Grand Opening with a community-based block party in the East Village this Saturday, May 17 from 8:30am to 3:00pm.

Local residents and merchants will gather together within the ultra-urban FIT space to promote business in East Village and spread the word on how to get (and stay) FIT this summer in San Diego.

This hot new gym, a luxury trend brought to our coast from Texas, makes it easy to reach your fitness goals with high-end equipment, mixed martial arts, cycling, group exercise, and outdoor yoga classes with PETCO Park views, not to mention vast rows of top of the line cardio machines equipped with personalized media centers and cable iPOD capabilities.

While the rough and soft openings from March ‘til May unveiled the industrial-chic décor of this multi-level FITness center, this Saturday is the official Grand Opening to introduce the never before seen outdoor pool and spa complete with a fire pits. The lobby lounge is completing the final touches on the exercise gear boutique and tanning bed salon - to be complete summer of 2008.

This Saturday the grand opening will feature special FIT membership rates for event attendees, as well as discounts and promotional specials from some of your favorite East Village businesses.

Sign up this weekend and jump into the "Slim Down and Shape Up" FIT Challenge - a twelve week program that pushes members to reach new levels of fitness. FIT members will group in teams of five, choose from over 124 indoor/outdoor workouts and compete against other teams and individuals to win prizes from local businesses. Prizes include, but aren't limited to, spa packages from Well-Heeled Spa and Salon and gift certificates from your favorite East Village bars: Basic and The Tilted Kilt.
