More than 80% of San Diego's annual rainfall occurs between December and March.
That means we're in the heart of the rainy season (if it can be called that). We're not used to water falling from the sky here in San Diego, so when weather does hit we're left at a loss of what to do on a rainy day. When our usual outdoor activities are put on hold, our only other option is to look indoors for entertainment.
Good news! San Diego is rich with museums. Better news! February is Museum Month - so almost all San Diego museums are half off the admission price with a Museum Month Pass.
San Diego County Macy's stores sponsor Museum Month, so the only way to get a pass is to stop by a store. A special brochure is available free of charge in all Macy's stores in San Diego County.
Don't let the weather keep you cooped up. Get out there, you might learn something, or have a great time. Still not convinced? Did I mention Museums make a great date? They do - especially if it happens to be something you know about or can discreetly make fun of. A little respectful irreverence goes a long way. Balboa Park is packed full of them and also features Free Tuesday where a few museums wave the admission fee on Tuesdays - it's a rotating schedule. Holding hands and dodging raindrops while scampering from one museum to the next is a great way to spend an afternoon.
You can find a San Diego Macy's at: Horton Plaza, Fashion Valley, North County Fair in Escondido, Mission Valley, Plaza Bonita in National City, Chula Vista, Otay Ranch, El Camino Real in Carlsbad, University Town Center, Grossmont Center, and Parkway Plaza in El Cajon.
