Open Arts Collective Do Art Daily Challenge

Do art daily. Starting on February 1st, over 30 San Diego artists have begun the challenge of committing to just that. As part of the San Diego Open Arts Collective, local artists have been carefully selected to participate in this complete dedication to their craft, all 29 days of the month.

The result of this challenge? A communal display of work on Saturday, March 24th at the Space 4 Art building. Because of the inimitable and rare talents of the artists selected to participate, the exhibit is planned to fuse all multimedia arts into an overwhelming multi-sensory experience.

Currently in the works to transform the massive community arts center is a wide range of showings, with a focus on the unordinary. Guests may view a display of dead honeybees entombed in paraffin. Or take in the simplicity of photographs capturing people consuming food. Mixed-media will be implemented in the form of a musically-interactive iPad, pop-up musical performances, an imaginary dictionary, sculptures made of driftwood and seaweed and crochet-covered pebbles distributed throughout the gallery. Local artist Victor Angelo (work pictured above) will present his series of acrylic paintings depicting the “concept of growth.”

The "Do Art Daily" exhibit is free of charge and is an all-ages event. Donations are encouraged. On Saturday, March 24th from 6-10pm, guests can entertain their senses at the Space 4 Art building at 325 15th St.

The Open Arts Collective is committed to a daily arts engagement in the San Diego community. They pride themselves on multimedia art events, use of non-traditional spaces, and inspiration from all corners of the city’s communities. For more information, please visit openartscollective.org.
