Health and fitness will forever be annual New Year's resolutions for all San Diegans, and just as universal is the breaking of that resolution a week or two into the New Year.
In an effort to help you keep your New Year's resolution and help out a worthy charity at the same time, Sun Strides has organized the San Diego Resolution Run. These are the same people who brought you the Temecula Turkey Trot and the Pumpkin Patch 5K in fall of 2007.
Runners cruise along the coast, from Mission Beach to Pacific Beach and back, in a 5K, 10K or 15K race that benefits Insulindependence, a non-profit world wide organization based in Southern California who attempt to change diabetic lives through adventure travel, educational outreach, and web-based community support.
Traditionally runners/walkers get their feet wet running along the beach (like Rocky and Apollo Creed training in Rocky III) but you can stick to pavement if you prefer. A number of prizes are up for grabs, including the ultimate in coastal transportation: a new beach cruiser bicycle.
The San Diego Resolution Run begins with registration on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 6am at De Anza Cove; the race starts at 7am with a 2 hour time limit on all categories.
