Most San Diego music festivals like to throw in something for every body. Not the Vans Warped Tour in San Diego. If you don't like punk music, it's not for you. But if you're into that sort of thing--or into half pipes, skateboarding, BMX and motocross--the San Diego Vans Warped Tour is your bloody, mosh-pitted paradise.
Starting at Noon on Friday August 24th, the Coors Amphitheatre turns into punk central. The Vans Warped Tour is not for the faint of heart. Expect thousands and thousands of tattooed and pierced mega-fans going nuts for high-decibel rock. This San Diego music event appeals to an extreme segment of the population.
As America's longest-running touring music festival, the Vans Warped Tour is extremely elaborate, including skateboarding and motocross demonstrations. Tents and booths, boasting tons of giveaways, evoke a flea market-type atmosphere if you venture away from the stages.
Two bands are a must-see at the 2007 Warped Tour: Flogging Molly and Bad Religion.
With 14 albums under their belt, Bad Religion has been rocking since 1980, and is now promoting their newest album, "New Maps of Hell". Just like drinking Guinness on St. Patty's Day, Flogging Molly makes you Irish by association. Their Irish-Punk songs are infectious; you can not stand still during a Flogging Molly Show. It is physically impossible.
