Halloween is looming towards us, and the Del Mar Fairgrounds has become the Del Mar Scaregrounds once again, home to San Diego’s largest haunted celebration: Scream Zone.
In honor of its tenth anniversary, the San Diego Scream Zone will feature three different doses of dismay: The Chamber, The House of Horror, and the Haunted Hayride, in addition to its Graveyard and Recovery Zone.
The Chamber
Seeking spooky turns of events and creepy twists of fate? Enter The Chamber, Scream Zone’s seemingly-endless labyrinth of Halloween frights. The Chamber will make you question everything you hold dear. What’s the meaning of life? Am I alone in the world? Is there someone standing behind me?
The House of Horror
The House of Horror is Scream Zone’s darkest event – literally. Filled with sinister characters, eerie hallways and blood-soaked hollows, this main attraction isn’t recommended for children under ten.

Haunted Hayride
Scream Zone’s Haunted Hayride isn’t a leisurely outing through your grandmother’s pumpkin patch. This open-sided haywagon journeys among the vacant, ghostly barns behind the Del Mar Racetrack. On the Haunted Hayride, you never know who – or what – you’ll find.
San Diego Scream Zone 2007 is open Oct. 5-7, 12-14, 18-21, and 24-31 from 7pm to midnight on Fridays & Saturdays, and 7pm to 11pm on other days.
Scream Zone 2007 Admissions Prices:
Triple (Combo) Haunt: House of Horror, Haunted Hayride & The Chamber — $26.99
Double Haunt: The Chamber plus House of Horror or Haunted Hayride — $17.99
Single Haunt: House of Horror or Haunted Hayride — $13.99
Scream Zone is located at the Del Mar fairgrounds. Enter through the Solana Gate, off Via de la Valle between the Coast Highway and Jimmy Durante Boulevard.
