Sugar Ray Concert Special at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego

Posted On : 9/17/2009 by Ryan Eisenacher

Many people – if not the entire populace itself – refer to the '90s as the era that spawned the worst of pop music, ever. Oh, but come now folks. Aside from the masses of one-hit wonders that hit the scene, this is the decade in which Prince, the Spice Girls and Sir Mix-a-Lot’s infamous track “Baby Got Back” ruled the world. Hmm…whatever did happen to him anyway?

Of course, when I think back on the music I listened to in the '90s, I fondly remember abrasively crooning to the sounds of hunky Mark McGrath - wait, isn’t his real name Sugar Ray? – blasting through my massive black boom box. Well, me and all the other teenage girls in the world that also swooned over his frosted tips and sexy tattoos.

Since their 1995 debut of “Lemonade and Brownies,” Sugar Ray has established itself nationally as one of the most popular music groups to come out of Southern California. Best known for its eclectic mix of punk, pop, reggae and rock n’ roll, Sugar Ray has enjoyed double- and triple-platinum success with its 1997 album “Floored” and 1999 album "14:59" producing top singles including "Fly," "Every Morning," and "Someday," "When Its Over" and "Answer the Phone”.

After a six-year hiatus, the boys of Sugar Ray are back!

Having recently released their newest album “Music for Cougars,” the band is hitting up our very own Hard Rock Hotel on Friday, September 25th along with Southern California-based band Dirty Heads and San Diego native, Aimee Allen, as their second to last stop on their US tour. Tickets to the show are available to individuals 21 years or older for $25 and include complimentary access to a concert after-party at Hard Rock’s nightclub 207.
