Everyone knows San Diego is where the turf meets the surf. In fact, there's no other slogan more quintessentially San Diegan. First famed by the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, the phrase is now featured with an admirable twist by the Sunset Cliffs Surf and Turf charity event in Ocean Beach.
The Sunset Cliffs Surf and Turf charity event combines two of San Diego's biggest obsessions: surfing and golfing. Surf and Turf is an all-inclusive event hosted in three sections. At 7am, attendees rise with the sun and head to the Ocean Beach Pier for a morning of surfing. The tide turns at 12:30pm as attendees make their way to Sail Ho Golf Course for an afternoon of golfing. As the sun begins to set at 6pm, the dinner party, awards ceremony, and auction begin at the Ocean Beach Masonic Temple. During evening festivities, live music serenades San Diego benevolence.
Compassion, creativity, and courage thrive at the Sunset Cliffs Surf and Turf in Ocean Beach. Surf and Turf emphasizes friendly competition and awareness of the cause. 100% of proceeds from the 13th annual Surf and Turf will benefit two equally important charities in the San Diego community. Big Worm's CF Life Foundation is a prominent cystic fibrosis foundation created by Matt (Worm) Joyce who has overcome a series of similar obstacles in his life. Fresh Start is a surgical donation foundation that provides a fresh start for children with deformities, disfigurements, and other traumas. In addition, Surf and Turf donates $1,000 to the Sunset Cliffs Surfing Association Grom Program that helps Ocean Beach children unite and stay on the right path.
The 13th annual Sunset Cliffs Surf and Turf will be held Saturday June 2nd. Visit Big Worm's CF Life Foundation to learn more about Big Worm and Surf and Turf.
