Surfing Santa Returns to Seaport Village

Posted On : 11/12/2010 by Ryan Eisenacher

I remember when I was a little kid and I used to ask my mom every Christmas if Santa would still come even though it wasn’t cold and snowing. Looking back on it now, I have to admit that I was a pretty logical thinker for a 5-year-old. I mean, how could he not get all hot and sweaty in that ginormous thick red wool suit and those heavy black boots? It’s like 80 degrees in California…even in December!

Maybe it’s just me, but I think Santa should dress according to the style of every city he visits. We wear tank tops and flip flops in California – so should our Santa. Fortunately, the Man in Red got with the program this year and is serving up Christmas, San Diego style.

Beginning Saturday, November 27th, Seaport Village welcomes the holiday season in true Southern California fashion. This year, Santa is trading in the red suit for boardshorts and flip flops and will sail into San Diego by pirate ship for his highly anticipated return.

Children can pose with the SoCal sun-kissed Santa at Seaport Village from 1pm-5pm and enjoy live music and street performers. In addition, an LED Lighting Exchange will be sponsored by SDG&E where attendees can bring their old holiday lights and exchange them for up to three free energy-efficient LED lights.

Santa will return throughout the season for photos in the Village each weekend from 11am – 6pm. Breakfast with Santa will also return to the Harbor House restaurant on Saturday, December18 and Sunday, December 19.

Start your holidays season off the right way and head to Seaport Village and partake in quality entertainment that the whole family will enjoy. Seaport Village will remain open daily from 10am– 6pm including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. For more information, please visit seaportvillage.com or call 619.235.4014.
