The 6th Annual ArtWalk on the Bay

For six years, ArtWalk on the Bay has accessorized the shorelines of San Diego Bay with colorful and dynamic pieces of art. Not like our coast needs any more beauty to accentuate it, but the works from over 150 artists don't hurt much, either.

The annual festival that brings thousands of spectators to the big blue bay occurs this year September 10-11th, from 10am to 5pm at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Park. More than just paintings, the park will also be filled with the aesthetics of sculptures and photographs and the sounds and smells of live music and delicious food. Stretched along the entirety of San Diego’s Big Bay, the art will provide an inspiring scene.

The event is free of admission, lending itself as an ideal afternoon activity for families, art connoisseurs, or casual art on-lookers to gather on the 4.3 acre waterfront park. All ages are welcome to enjoy art from a young perspective, at the KidsWalk that offers hands-on interactive art activities to keep the young ones occupied. Students are encouraged by the ArtReach organization that works to inspire the talents of younger generations. Bringing all ages into the mix, ArtWalk highlights the importance of creative thinking in a welcoming environment.

With the outdoor ambiance of creative minds contributing to the expansive art walk along the bay comes musical showcases from local artists. On Saturday, guests can gander at art with live performances from Nikki Wilkins, Robin Henkel, Wendy Bailey, Peter Hall, Bill Cardinal, and Shawn Rohlf. Sunday’s lineup includes the talents of Tori Rogg, Ryan Hiller, Brad Perry & the Acoustic Fingerprints, the San Diego Symphony, Colin Clyne, and Scott Mathiasen. ArtWalk is part of ARTS Month San Diego, a celebration of the city’s art and culture programs.
