The Haunted Hotel Spooks San Diego

Watch out behind you: the season of spooks is back, when merely walking in the San Diego nights could incite ghosts and ghouls to follow your footsteps. While some of us hide indoors to avoid this persistent trickery, others face it head-on to shake up their bones with scares.

The ghastly guests have checked in to this year’s Haunted Hotel, on the corner of 4th Avenue and Market Street in the Gaslamp Quarter. Brave visitors are invited to wander down dark, bloodstained hallways where shadows stream the walls, and peer into room after room, and shriek at nightmarish scene after nightmarish scene.

Named one of the top 13 haunted houses in America by Haunt World Magazine, the hotel stands as a long-time premier San Diego haunted attraction, taking downtown for a spin into a dark and twisted world. Opening its doors on September 23rd with half-price tickets, the Hellevator takes curious guests and thrill-seekers into Freddy Krueger’s workshop and into rooms inspired by Legion and Shutter Island. Spine -tingling and heart-pounding effects ensure shrills and shrieks, and also warn the wary to enter at their own risk.

The Haunted Hotel delivers goose bump-inducing scenes September 23rd to October 31st, from 7pm to 12am. Guests are invited to don their finest Halloween costumes and embrace all the lurks in dark corners. Related to the Haunted Hotel is the Haunted Trail of Balboa Park, San Diego’s only all-outdoor haunted attraction. A mile of twisted path leads visitors through pine trees and gnarled oaks to evoke the spooks that come out in Mother Nature’s nighttime.

In addition, the Scream Zone adds extra thrills starting on September 30th. One of the largest haunted attractions in San Diego, it features a huge House of Horror with rooms filled to thrill, a Haunted Hayride and a Chamber with the largest spinning tunnel in San Diego. The Scaregrounds are located along five aces of the Del Mar Fairgrounds and include rolling floors, strobe lights, fog machines, and dripping natural elements.
