From young to old, people of all ages are sure to get caught up in the magic and excitement of The Wizard of Oz. The morals of this heart touching story remind us all to not waste time wishing for things that we may already possess within us and that friendship, a cheerful outlook, and perseverance will get us all a long way.
Based on the most renowned MGM movie adaptation, The Wizard of Oz tells the story of Dorothy Gale, a simple Kansas farm girl whose whole world is transformed after she gets transported to the Wonderful World of Oz. Arriving by way of a gusty tornado, Dorothy finds herself in a magical world of witches, munchkins, and haunted forests, with only her dog, Toto, to keep her company. After accidentally killing The Wicked Witch of the East with her landing, Dorothy is set along the path of the yellow brick road with ruby slippers on her feet to protect her.
The famed road will lead her to the Emerald City, where she can ask the Wizard of Oz for further help. Dorothy soon finds that Toto and she won’t be alone long when they are joined by a Cowardly Lion, a Heartless Tin Man, and a Brainless Scarecrow. Since all three new friends feel they are lacking innate qualities, they decide to travel with Dorothy to ask for The Wizard of Oz’s help. Following many adventures, from flying monkeys to melting witches, the four comrades are shocked to uncover The Wizard of Oz’s secret. Yet, despite it all, he is still able to help them by explaining that they already have what they think they lack.
