Every Tuesday night at Winston’s in Ocean Beach you can Think and Drink your way to incredibly mediocre prizes. Usually known for their nightly and often Reggae-tinged live music, this OB nightlife mainstay switches it up once a week for life, liberty and the pursuit of trivia.

Winston’s trivia games begin at 5pm and run until around 9pm, when the bands start setting up. You get in 8 rounds of Trivial Pursuit cards taken from 8 decks, ranging from the 90’s Edition, The Simpsons, and Genius Edition (the big black deck).

Think and Drink at Winston’s boasts an amiable crowd who plays with an amusing mindset: if you don’t know the answer, write something funny. The best are read for the entire bar to enjoy by the host, who does a great job of keeping things lively and the game moving.

Form a team, or play on your own. You can start at any time—just make sure you have a clever moniker. Every team who participates wins a prize. The winners get to choose first from a table full of random goodness that appears as if it came from the 99-cent store, with the occasional sweet prize mixed in.

Drinks at Winston’s are always reasonably priced, and the kitchen offers pizza for the players at a buck a slice. Keep in mind: this is a friendly game. The only real trash talking is done by the author of this article, and is all good-natured. Feel free to fire back at will.
