Bridesmaids: now showing

Judd Apatow, the producer of classic hits such as Superbad, Knocked Up, and The 40-Year Old Virgin brings you this summer’s funniest movie: Bridesmaids. Six unlikely ladies come together for the lead-up to a wedding. Annie, a lead role played by Kristen Wiig, is experiencing major difficulties with the Maid of Honor duties bestowed upon her by Lillian, played by Maya Rudolph. With her life falling apart, Annie must pull everything together so she doesn’t disappoint herself and Lillian. Four unlikely bridesmaids add to the chaos as their personalities collide and fun ensues.

The Hangover: Part II: released May 26

As a sequel to the hilarious 2009 movie hit The Hangover, Part II promises to be equally amusing. Reigning stars Zach Galifianakas, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, and Ken Jeong return to the silver screen to act in the sequel. After the initial Vegas disaster, Phil (Bradley Cooper), Doug (Justin Bartha), and Alan (Zach Galifianakas) fly to Thailand to celebrate Stu’s (Ed Helms) wedding. But, of course, things don’t go as planned once the crew loses the brother of Stu’s fiancée (Jamie Chung) and things just keep going from bad to worse.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides: released May 20

The long awaited 4th installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series finds Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) on a whole new adventure. Joined by the mysterious Angelica (Penelope Cruz), Jack must find the Fountain of Youth. Along the way, he boards the infamous Blackbeard’s (Ian McShane) ship and faces new adversaries such as zombies and mermaids. Throughout the movie, Jack toys with the idea that he may be in love with Angelica, yet he is too unsure of her true motives. This will be the first movie of the series to be shown in 3D.

Tree of Life: released May 27

This complex film deals with issues of love and loss through the use of surreal and sci-fi elements. In a dramatic story, a young boy from Texas named Jack finds out the ways of family life as he grows from child to adult. The adult Jack (Sean Penn) must seek deeper meaning as he struggles to forgive his father for past misdeeds. Brad Pitt plays the pivotal role of Mr. O’Brian, with Jessica Chastain starring in the opposing role of Mrs. O’Brian. This movie celebrates joy, beauty and hope and ends on an inspirational note.

Priest: now showing

This stylish supernatural film deals with some of our favorite scary characters: vampires. Based on a Korean comic, Priest takes place in an alternate world where vampires roam freely and are always at war with humans. The plot surrounds the story of a Warrior Priest (Paul Bettany) who must break his vows to find his kidnapped niece Lily (Lucy Pace). Throughout this trial, he has the help of Lucy’s boyfriend, Sheriff Hicks (Cam Gigandet) and a former Warrior Priestess (Maggie Q). This film is showing in 3D and is said to have sleek and scary qualities.
