Just because Mardi Gras has already passed doesn’t mean the southern fun needs to come to a close. True North is embracing the long and hot days of summer with a Zydeco and Cajun Kickoff Party this Sunday, June 30 at 2 p.m.
Cajun culture is all about capturing the essence of “Laissez les bon temps rouler” or “let the good times roll,” and that’s precisely why True North is throwing the party.
While live Cajun, blues and Texas swing music from The Swamp Critters will swell inside of the tavern, the real star here will be the crawfish boil, dumped right down on your newspaper-covered table. It’s down and dirty, just the way we like it. The dish consists of corn on the cob, red potatoes, onion, garlic and peppers, with a choice of shrimp over the crawfish or something a little less traditional. Wash it all down with the True North Tavern Hurricanes or beers from Louisiana favorite, Abita Brewery.
The party starts at 2 p.m. at True North Tavern, 3815 30th St., North Park. truenorthtavern.com
