Sound Check ft. Black Lips at Club 207 – Tuesday, August 7

The Hard Rock Hotel teams up with Filter Magazine to produce the monthly live music series Sound Check. Next up, the Black Lips are bringing their ‘flower punk’ sound to Club 207 on Tuesday. Expect 1960s psychedelic elements mixed in with garage rock and modern punk. The party will also feature opening sets by California rock band Allah-Las and DJs Adam Salter and Gabe Vega. Drink the Point in Ocean Beach – Wednesday, August 8

Ocean Beach is the destination of choice this Hump Day. The team behind Sessions Public is bringing back Drink the Point, a craft beer bar crawl through Ocean Beach and Point Loma. Hop on the free bus and drink your way through Raglan Public House, Slater’s 50/50, Newport Pizza & Alehouse, Harbor Town, Pizza Port, The Pearl Hotel and of course, Sessions Public. TNT: Live Local at Museum of Contemporary Art – Thursday, August 9

MCASD’s August edition of Thursday Night Thing celebrates a local art exhibit inspired by life in City Heights. Miami Horror DJ Set at Quality Social – Thursday, August 9

Head to Quality Social on Thursday to catch a DJ set by members of Australian psychedelic indie-electro band Miami Horror. The party will also feature opening sets by DJs Gabe Vega, Robin Roth of 91X and Colourvision, as well as live art by Andrea Welton. Get details here (pictured: full band)

Night&Day + DiscoverSD Present: VIP Cabana Party at Del Mar Racetrack – Friday, August 10

Join the U-T Lifestyle & Entertainment crew for an evening of VIP fun at the Del Mar Racetrack on Friday. Hillcrest CityFest – Sunday, August 12

The 28th annual Hillcrest CityFest is taking over University Avenue at 5th for a big street fair by day and a new after party by night. 150,000 attendees are expected to attend the free fest, which will celebrate the spirit of Hillcrest with live music, 250+ arts and crafts vendors, a beer garden, food from local restaurants and more. The Tour: Kiss and Motley Crue at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre – Sunday, August 12

The two iconic hard rock bands are San Diego-bound to share a stage at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre this Sunday. San Diego Music Awards at Humphrey’s by the Bay – Monday, August 13

The 2012 San Diego Music Awards take place at Humphrey’s on Monday, featuring live performances by P.O.D., Unwritten Law, Dead Feather Moon, Hills Like Elephants, The Howls, The Mattson 2 and Hyena.
