San Diego's premier home design destination, the La Jolla Design District, is hosting its largest annual event, What's Up Girard, on Saturday, September 20, 2008.
Celebrating its 5th anniversary, this free public event takes place on a four-block stretch of Girard Avenue in La Jolla, opening the doors to several of the top international contemporary and transitional showroom collections in the world offering furniture, art, textile, antiques, cabinetry and bed & bath accommodations.
Educational design seminars conducted by leading industry experts will be held in a variety of showrooms from 1-5pm, and social soirées (which are invite-only, but all who attend day seminars will receive an invitation to evening events) will take place from 5-7pm, and feature live entertainment and an assortment of food and cocktails provided by the finest San Diego restaurants. All What's Up Girard events provide an excellent opportunity to mingle and network with award-winning architects and industry professionals in a relaxed and sophisticated setting.
2008 What's Up Girard will kick off the day's events with “Chair'ity” - a silent auction featuring an assortment of innovative seating and interior accessories donated by participating showrooms.
The silent auction opened for bidding on August 20th, and will conclude on the evening of September 20th. 100% of proceeds will be donated to support BLOOM, a fundraising organization dedicated to beautifying the campus of La Jolla Elementary School.
