Who Said What: San Diego Carrie Prejean Controversy

Published : 5/7/2009 by Ryan Eisenacher

It seems the source of all gossip is San Diego’s own Miss California Carrie Prejean.

At only 21 years old, Carrie has been a member of the San Diego Padres “Pad Squad” for three years, a center fold face for Bliss Magazine, modeled for Target, Nordstrom and E! Entertainment and also works as a volunteer for the Special Olympics. But though the blonde bombshell is overflowing with good deeds and already boasts a thriving career, Miss California has been the center of controversy since the 2009 Miss USA pageant last month.

After being crowned Miss California, Carrie went on to the Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas where she was awarded second place to North Carolina’s Kristen Dalton, winner of the 2009 Miss USA pageant. But was it just an unfortunate stroke of luck that she didn’t take home the crown? Quite unlikely.

The first storm of controversy occurred during the Miss USA pageant when one of the judges, famous celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, asked Prejean about her stance on same-sex marriage. She replied by saying: “I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.” Ouch.

A wave of furor spread amongst advocators and adversaries of gay marriage immediately following her controversial comment. Keith Lewis, co-director of the Miss USA pageant, came out saying that he was personally hurt by her statement and Hilton expressed his vivid outrage on a video he aired on his blog.

But the conflict doesn’t end there. After Prejean admitted that her contentious comments cost her the crown, scandalous photos surfaced online of her wearing nothing but underwear. Yikes.

According to one of the Miss USA pageant spokespersons, Prejean has violated several sections of the 12 page contract that each of the prospective contestants was required to sign before the state preliminaries. A clause asks the participants whether or not they have ever been photographed nude or partially nude, and Prejean signed off saying that she hadn’t. Whoops!

After she had promised pageant officials earlier this week that there was only one semi-nude picture of her, the website that published the first picture posted a second one and promised to “slowly roll out the rest.”

So what is to come of the 21-year-old San Diego native? A rep from the Miss California USA organization announced that they will be meeting with runner-up, Miss Malibu Tami Farrell later this week to take over Prejean’s crown if pageant owner Donald Trump and the Miss California USA directors decide to strip her of her title as Miss California 2009.

Her fate is in the hands of The Donald. Will she be fired? If so, Vivid Entertainment has already offered her a one million gig to star in her own pornographic film. Decisions! Decisions!

Final Call: Trump says Prejean keeps her crown. Carrie Prejean remains Miss California.

New Lesbian Twist?: Though Carrie Prejean is now infamously known for her anti-gay message at the Miss USA Pageant, Star Magazine has reported than a woman claims to have had a lesbian relationship with Carrie's mother. TMZ also chimed in with some details on Carrie's family divorce, which may be support of the lesbian claim.
