Internationally heralded reggae musician Pato Banton brings his energetic live show to the Belly Up, along with the band Mystic Roots, whose musical style is a mash up of reggae, hip-hop, dancehall, rock, funk and ska, on Friday, January 8, 2010.

Pato Banton spent 20 years in the music business, slowly morphing from a DJ in Birmingham to a side member of the English Beat to a full-blown reggae phenom — scoring international hits with tracks like the dance-infused “Baby Come Back”, "Legalize It" or “Don’t Sniff Coke” — but he gave it all up to start a new career helping the kids on the street. He went back to school, became a kindergarten teacher, set up music programs at colleges, built summer vocal camps and started the Music Technology School in Birmingham. He reached out to troubled kids and helped them develop their skills. Read more here.
