Last Call: San Diego Summer Bucket List

The fall season is fast approaching, and if you’re like me, you’ve barely had time to partake in any summer fun. In a city like San Diego, it’s a crime not to make time to enjoy the scenery, attractions, and entertainment trends that define our summer lifestyle.

Luckily for you there is still time to transform your schedule and finish the season off right. Make the most of your last month by strictly following my end of summer to-do list. If you want to experience the best of summer in San Diego, you must hit a few celebrity hosted pool parties, try the hottest new restaurants, get outside and explore local adventures, tour the city’s iconic attractions, and most importantly, treat yourself to a much-needed staycation at a local luxury resort, complete with full spa indulgence.

Discover your San Diego summer bucket list.

Indulge: Try New San Diego Restaurants

Why live life on a strict diet when a lifestyle of gourmet indulgence is so much more fun? Besides, San Diego hardly makes it easy to resist those insistent carb cravings, as new irresistible restaurants seem to open up all across the county every weekend. This summer we have met and tasted a variety of new San Diego restaurants, including Burlap in Del Mar, Café Sevilla in San Diego, Union in Encinitas, and Bootlegger in East Village. If you’ve yet to treat your taste buds, now is the time to make those reservations. Check out more new San Diego restaurants.

Party: Rage at San Diego Pool Parties

What in the world is possibly holding you back from joining in on the famed San Diego pool party scene? Celebrity guests, the world’s top performers, and an elite social circle, all under the hot sunshine. From Intervention at the Hard Rock Hotel to SunDaze at Wave House and every swanky rooftop lounge in between, it’s time to pool party hop across town and enjoy the last of the summer sun in style. Can’t-miss events include Lil Jon at Intervention, Skrillex at Wave House, and a Summer Fashion Show at Ivy Rooftop, all on August 14. Get the scoop on San Diego pool parties.

Explore: Get Outdoors at San Diego Adventures

We locals have been spoiled rotten with incredible weather this summer. If you’re not making time to get outside and enjoy it, you’re missing out. If you’re feeling active, take a hike at Mt. Woodson in Poway or Torrey Pines Reserve in La Jolla. If you need to chill out, have a beach day at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, 15th Street Beach in Del Mar, or Dog Beach in Ocean Beach. For a real rush, challenge yourself to surfing, skydiving, kayaking, or snorkeling all over town. There is a unique outdoor adventure for every interest and skill level.

Tour: Be at Tourist at San Diego Attractions

Why do we always wait until friends and family visit from out of town to explore the many stunning attractions in America’s Finest City? It's just not right. From Balboa Park to Coronado, Mission Bay, La Jolla Cove, and the San Diego Zoo, these iconic landmarks are deserving of our everyday attention, especially during summertime. I challenge you to be a tourist for the day and fall in love with San Diego all over again. For a relaxing afternoon, stroll, picnic and museum hop in Balboa Park before sunset at the Cove and dinner in La Jolla. For an action-packed tour, check out SeaWorld and bike around Mission Bay by day, while saving energy for a sunset cruise in San Diego Bay by night. I know you’ll fall head over heels in love with San Diego attractions.

Travel: Relax on a San Diego Staycation

How is it already the end of summer? We had so many plans: redesign the backyard, drop a few pounds, and take a much-needed vacation. Clearly, we haven’t had time to read a travel magazine in peace, let alone book the perfect summer vacation. But don’t give up just yet. San Diego resorts offer the ideal atmosphere for a luxurious yet affordable staycation. For the ultimate San Diego staycation experience, I recommend L’Auberge Del Mar Resort & Spa, Loews Coronado Bay Resort & Spa, The Grand Del Mar Resort & Spa, Rancho Bernardo Inn Resort & Spa, and La Costa Resort & Spa. Treat yourself to an end of summer staycation at San Diego resorts, because you deserve it.
