I’ve met people who couldn’t love a human child as much as they love beer. I’ve seen people cherish alcohol with intimate words and actions. But never in my life have I known someone who has dedicated his or her life to drinking quite like Zane Lamprey. I don’t mean that metaphorically either, his life literally gravitates around drinking.
Lamprey hosted a television show for three years entitled “Three Sheets” where his job consisted of cruising across the globe from country to country and doing nothing outside the realm of drinking. Tasting different alcohols, throwing a few back with the locals, understanding the history of the beverages, taking part in cultural traditions – this is his day to day life. As a guest on the tonight show, he and Conan O’Brian shot off bottles of champagne…with a sword! Apparently that’s the way Napoleon did it after a victory.
This guy is living the dream.
Lamprey travels around the country to discover the ins and outs of domestic drinking on his current television show, “Drinking Made Easy”. In October, Zane kicked off national music tour known as “Sing The Booze”, which makes its way to the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, San Diego on November 27th. Zane performs his show with his drinking buddy, Steve Mckenna, the Justones (Justin Sheehy and Ferris Wheeler), and of course, his trusty sidekick monkey, Pleepleus.
Zane’s show consists of serenading his audiences with songs about drinking – straight up drinking. To envision his style of music, honoring every facet of the holy liquid he loves, imagine a love child between Tenacious D and The Aquabats. His arsenal of songs that he plays include “Tits McGee”, “Mojito”, and “Beer, I love you”.
