Travel: Grand Wailea Resort in Maui

Voted Best Island in the World by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler, Maui is one of the most popular travel destinations, and for good reason. When you’re craving a tropical Hawaii getaway, we recommend the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui. This vast, plush property is practically an island all its own. From the moment you receive your flower Lei greeting, you are invited into a new world punctuated by decadent spa services, abundant shopping, fine dining, private beach access and ongoing pool adventures.

The Grand Wailea offers a variety of accommodations, ranging from Napua Rooms to Suites and Villas at Ho’olei. Enter a Wailea Suite: a richly furnished 1,950-square-foot suite with stunning views of lush tropical gardens, landscapes and ocean views. But you won’t stay inside long with all the exotic entertainment awaiting outdoors. Walk through the resort to your own private beach and be sure to let your concierge know if you’d like to take paddle boards, boogie boards, sandcastle kits, beach umbrellas or snorkel sets along with you. More beach activities include private VIP cabana rentals, kayak tours and scuba programs. Oh, and did I mention that the resort’s beach is the best beach on the entire island of Maui - rated one of the top in the world?

The word “pool” simply doesn’t cut it for the Grand Wailea’s full-blown water park. The 4,850-square-foot Hibiscus Pool, strictly for adults only, contains over 2.2 million individual tiles composing a Hibiscus flower design and features two Jacuzzis. The Wailea Canyon Activity Pool is a multi-faceted, 2,000-foot-long, 25,700-total-square-foot, 770,000-gallon pool consists of nine free-form pools at six levels. The pools are connected by a river that carries swimmers along at varying speeds, from whitewater rapids to lazy currents. Wailea Canyon includes four jungle pools, four tile slides, a whitewater rapids slide, a Tarzan pool with rope swing, the world's first water elevator, a sand beach, six waterfalls, caves, three Jacuzzis, an infant pool, and a swim-up bar. Oh yes.

If you ever make it out of the water, the Grand Wailea also offers six on-site dining and entertainment destinations, an amazing row of boutique shopping, a premier 18-hole golf course, full-functioning fitness center with daily class schedules, and of course, a ridiculously indulgent day spa and salon. If you’re planning a destination wedding, keep in mind that the Grand Wailea has one of the most incredible beachfront wedding chapels in all of Hawaii.
