Entering its fifteenth year of existence, the 2008 San Diego Latino Film Festival is one of the largest and most respected Latino film festivals in America.
Put on by the Media Arts Center San Diego in Mission Valley, over 160 films will be shown this year. The group seeks to promote film as a means of community expression and to support professional artists by seeking out underrepresented groups and portraying accurate images of their communities.
The Media Arts Center generally places a focus on Latin culture, as the group was originally began as the "Cine Estudiantil" Film Festival created for Chicano and Native American students. Now in its fifteenth year, the San Diego Latino Film Festival attracts over 18,000 viewers, and with more films than ever, it is sure to attract a larger crowd than ever before.
The 2008 San Diego Latino Film Festival takes place March 6 - 16, and a film pass that bypasses lines, offers VIP seating and provides entrance to 11 films of the buyers' choice is available for $90. And for those who want even more access, the $180 festival pass enables you to enjoy over 100 festival programs, four workshops, and all three festival galas while bypassing lines, opting for VIP seating, and receiving a one year membership to the Media Arts Center San Diego.
Tickets for individual films can be purchased at the UltraStar box office on the day of the showing or online by viewing the schedule and clicking on the film you wish to view. All individual film tickets cost $9.50 and a $2 discount applies to all seniors, military personnel, students, and members of the Media Arts Center San Diego.
