Ban the Ban Proposes Last-Chance Petition Against San Diego Beach Alcohol Ban

Published : 12/7/2007 by DiscoverSD

What was once a mere possibility is now a brutal reality - the legislation to ban alcohol on San Diego beaches, bays, and parks became official on December 5, 2007. However, there is still a chance at redemption thanks to Ban the Ban, proposed by Our City Our Responsibility.

Our City Our Responsibility is a grassroots, volunteer coalition of concerned citizens, community groups, local businesses, and visitors, who feel San Diego public servants need to represent the people of San Diego. Ban the Ban believes San Diego beaches, bays, and parks should continue to be safe, affordable, recreation zones for all San Diegans. And, their mission is to ensure that the citizens of San Diego have safe public recreation zones and to ensure that citizens and visitors act in a responsible manner while using these recreation zones.

Against the alcohol ban by definition, the mission of Our City Our Responsibility is to inform and educate the public, and work closely with elected representatives to develop real solutions - encouraging public participation in the law making process.

Alcohol will be illegal on San Diego beaches, bays, and parks on December 5, 2007 - unless Ban the Ban collects 31,000 signatures to stop it.

Ban the Ban will host a kick-off rally and press conference to announce the petition to stop the beach alcohol ban at Ski Beach on Saturday, December 8, 2007.

If you want to stop the beach, bay, and parks alcohol ban, there are a number of ways you can help.
