To further the reduction of alcohol-related disturbances in the Pacific Beach area, Discover Pacific Beach is hosting a completely alcohol-free “Pacific Beachfest” on October 14^th, 2006. The emphasis is on family-friendly, and the festival’s shorefront events attractions like a kite flying competition, an arts & crafts village, a community stage, a sidewalk sale, a sandcastle building display, and a separate “Kidfest” are certain to please every member of your household, four-leggers included.

Dining options will be abundant at the Taste of Pacific Beach Food Court, featuring the cuisine of twenty different area restaurants. The day will end in an explosion of light, as a fabulous fireworks display is launched from Crystal Pier over the sea. There is also talk of a “real live mermaid”— but if we told you more, we’d have to kill you.
