Gingerbread Village Project at the Manchester Grand Hyatt

Endless amounts of sugary sweets are an indisputable sign that the holidays are upon us. Candy canes, sugar cookies, peppermint bark and more; there’s really no end in sight until we make it to January. Of course, the granddaddy of holiday treats is the self-made gingerbread house – a lavish showcase of edible creativity made of candy everything, from the door, to the fence, to the chimney…

The Manchester Grand Hyatt hosts their fifth annual Gingerbread Village Project in support of Make-A-Wish San Diego and sweet-teeth everywhere. Three downtown community schools - Monarch School, Perkin’s Elementary School and Kimbrough Elementary – have created the ultimate gingerbread village, including a special replica of the hotel courtesy of Executive Chef Brent Martin.

The Gingerbread Village is now on display in the Manchester Grand Hyatt grand lobby until Monday, December 31st. Want in on the sweet action? Locals passing through can vote on their favorite gingerbread house until December 14. The students with the winning dome will present Make-A-Wish San Diego with a $1,500 donation on behalf of the Manchester Grand Hyatt.

The Manchester Grand Hyatt is also serving as an official Toys for Tots drop-off location. When you visit the gingerbread creations, help a child in need by bringing a new, unwrapped toy. For more information, visit ManchesterGrand.Hyatt.com
