For farm-fresh cuisine, organic
produce, and unique gifts, nothing beats the Hillcrest Farmer’s
Market. Held every Sunday from 9am to 1pm in the DMV parking lot
(Lincoln Street, between Cleveland and Normal), the market is a
colorful bazaar that attracts health-conscious crowds from all over
San Diego’s metro.
Among the market’s favorite items for
purchase are the organic sun-dried tomatoes grown by local farmers,
fresh eggs laid by free-range chickens, potted herbs of every
variety, stunning flower bouquets, and hundreds of other garden-fresh
items. There is also an expansive food court, featuring gourmet
tamales like feta-spinach and sweet corn-chive, squash flower tacos,
steaming and iced coffee concoctions, baked goods, and assorted
loaves from Bread & Cie.
Bring your own tote bag to further the
earth-friendly theme. In steamy summer months, sunscreen is
recommended!
