Whether you aspire to become the next great hat designer or are seeking to strengthen your parenting or older sibling skills, the 13th Annual San Diego Easter Bonnet Parade and Hat Contest in Downtown San Diego is your ticket to success.
Featuring one of the biggest egg hunts in San Diego paired with live entertainment and dance performances, this spring event takes place at the San Diego Park in the Park located at 9th and "J" Street downtown on the day before Easter, March 22, 2008. Festivities will run between 11am and 3pm.
To kick off the day, guests will get their chance to let their let their art skills loose with a creative hat making workshop. Those participating will be provided with hats, feathers, beads, glitter and other fun materials to make the Easter bonnet spring dreams are made of. Hat designer and professor of Fashion Design at Mesa College, Diana Cavagnaro will be making the rounds to provide constructive criticism or helpful suggestions to those in need.
Once hats are complete, they will be judged in the contest, broken down by age group, and assembled into a hat parade for the whole family. After the parade, children ages 2 - 12 will be invited to participate in the egg hunt, which includes over around 8,000 hidden eggs filled will Easter candy galore.
Pre-sale tickets for this event are $10 per adult and $5 per child, those purchased on the day of admission will be $12 per adult and $6 per child. All proceeds will go to the UCSD Medical Center Hillcrest, Hematology/Oncology Department of Pediatrics Research, dedicated to creating treatments to help children with cancer and blood disorders.
