San Diego K9 Incorporated Dog Training

Posted On : 1/2/2011 by Ryan Eisenacher

After spending five years as a dog handler and trainer in the United States Marine Corps, K9 owner and chief trainer TJ Hopkinson, realized that there was an overwhelming lack of knowledge in the dog training community in San Diego and set out to fix the problem.

In 2009, San Diego K9 Training was established by a select group of former and current United States Marine Corps K9 handlers/trainers and police K9 handlers/trainers. K9 Training covers all of the bases whether it be house calls for basic obedience and potty training, to more complex issues such as trouble-shooting and behavioral issues.

For individuals interested in private training for their dog, K9 offers Basic Obedience Training which includes the standard commands such as “sit, down, stay, heel,” “come,” and how to leave and drop items. For dogs that already have the basic commands down, Advanced Training will teach your dog off-leash obedience at great distances, extended “stay” for a lengthened period of time, boundary training, and owner specific commands. For dogs that show aggression issues, Trouble-Shooting classes train dogs who have issues with excessive barking, leash pulling, jumping on people, and unwanted chewing on items.

K9 also offers group session training for groups of 4 to 6 individuals that include basic obedience training, personal and executive protection, and the fundamentals of K9 Training. And prospective dog owners can even acquire a pre- or post-purchase evaluation to determine a particular breeds strengths and weaknesses, and to give an overall impression of the caliber of the dog wanted.
