SD Bloggers, a San Diego Meetup.com group for bloggers and blogging enthusiasts, will hold its One Year Anniversary Party at Modus Supper Club, 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2008.

The event will host around 100 bloggers, blog readers, and people interested in becoming bloggers in and around the San Diego area. Food and drinks will be provided for the first hour, and happy hour prices will be offered to all who arrive after 8:30 p.m.

Blogging is the epicenter of social media, and a collection of local bloggers is a valuable network to spread the word about what you do. Founded by Matt Browne in October 2007, SD Bloggers has grown from a small group of three to one of over 220 members in the past year.

A variety of personal, professional and hobby bloggers make up the majority of the group, which meets monthly at "Blogger Meetups" to discuss blogs, learn about what other bloggers are doing, and network with people in the community. Attendees include employees from Qualcomm, Hitachi, Eventful, and other local venture backed startups. Bloggers who participate not only make good connections with other local bloggers, but they also get added exposure by including their blog in a master feed of all San Diego bloggers: tinyurl.com/sdblog.

This feed is syndicated broadly across the internet to Twitter, FriendFeed, Facebook, and other social networking platforms. Advertisers are also welcome at the events, and are encouraged to offer bloggers incentives to write (fair and honest) reviews about their product, service, or restaurant venue. Likewise, PR Firms, Ad Agencies, Journalists, Marketers, Promoters, and anyone looking to get a message out to the community are encouraged to participate, whether or not they maintain an active blog. The SD Blogger Meetups typically last for two hours and are free for all attendees.
