The Need for Speed: Miramar Speed Circuit

Want an original way to fill your Saturday? Make haste to the Miramar Speed Circuit, San Diego’s favorite indoor kart-racing spot. If you aren’t familiar with the sport, just picture a souped-up version Little Indy racecars at your neighborhood family fun center. Next, picture them on a quarter-mile indoor track, considered one of the finest in the country. Now crank up the speed.


Why is the Miramar track so fine? Because “No expense has been spared … The asphalt track is the optimum medium for racing as it allows the tires to grip the track and prevents sliding, allowing the racer to use their brakes less often.” Which means hair-raising hairpin turns, face-flesh flapping, and banshee-like screams. Each kart boasts an electronic timer, which clocks your info as you zoom around each successive lap.


Miramar Speed Circuit will host parties from birthdays to those of the bachelor persuasion. They also hold “Kids’ Driving School” Saturday mornings for those under twelve.
