Thieves: Within the past two weeks, two separate robberies have been reported in Mission Valley. The first incident was reported on April 13th when Mimi’s Café on Mission Center Road was robbed. The second incident occurred the night of April 15th when a gunman and his accomplice walked out of Best Buy with a shopping cart full of stolen merchandise, threatening a security guard and an employee.
Bolts Being Bad: Some of our Chargers boys are making bad headlines lately. Linebacker Shaun Pillips was cited for misdemeanor on April 26th for allegedly striking a security guard in the face at the Ivy Hotel. Last week, defensive tackle Jamal Williams pleaded guilty to two traffic violations as part of a plea stemming from his February 1st arrest on suspicion of DUI.
Charges: The mother of a 2 1/2-year-old girl testified in a preliminary hearing against Mark and Anita Kaczmarczyk who are accused of molesting four young children at the day care center they own and operate from their apartment. If convicted at the conclusion of the hearing, each of the defendants will face a maximum of 60 years to life in prison.
Cha-Ching!: San Diego Chargers’ running back and designated franchise player, Darren Sproles, signed the team’s one-year contract which guarantees he’ll make the average of the top five running back salaries in the league. $6.621 million this season? Sounds good to us.
Help is Here: The Center for Community Solutions, a non-profit agency that offers domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and intervention services, will be hosting its 10th annual “Tea on the Town” benefit on May 21st at the Mission Valley Marriott. Say no to violence and support a good cause.
Rock Out: With the warm weather in our midst and summer on the horizon it’s time for the festivities to begin. On Friday, May 1st, Allied Gardens Park will host the 10 year anniversary of the two day outdoor “SpringFest” featuring live music, carnival rides, over 100 different food and merchandise vendors and a beer and wine garden.
