Who Said What: Rancho Santa Fe News in Review

Published : 6/8/2009 by Vicki Hoang

North County San Diego tends to remain in the shadows due to the newsworthy and eventful happenings in the Pacific Beach and Gaslamp areas. From local shining stars to a nine-lived kitten and a homebuyer’s market, we’re here to update you on the Rancho Santa Fe scene. Let’s find out who said what in this week's Rancho Santa Fe news in review.

The Ranch has Style: Haute entrepreneurs Sara Levy and twin sister Ruth Levy presented their fashion-forward website TheFashionCode.com on a recently aired episode of the Rachel Ray Show. According to Rancho Santa Fe News, the two ladies highlighted the beliefs of “divine proportion”—unraveling secrets to wearing clothes that will flatter figures, making them look younger, skinnier, and stylish. Audiences were awed, and even Rachel Ray herself said she was a believer.

Can Money Buy You Love?: We’re definitely buzzing about this month’s featured story in Ranch & Coast Magazine, “Meet the Men of The Bachleorette” which highlights two San Diego hometown locals fighting to win the heart of Jillian Harris on the reality television series, “The Bachleorette.” One of whom, happens to be the owner’s son of local Rancho Santa Fe restaurant Mille Fleurs. Find out what other celebrity chefs in are hitting the big screen in New in Dining: Celeb Chefs to Survival Promos. (pictured: Jillian Harris from Ranch & Coast)

Pony Up!: Fans and social spectators can enjoy the King of Sports June through July 19 and August 16 to October 4 at the San Diego Polo Club in Rancho Santa Fe. Details here.

Eight Lives Left: Authorities are reviewing surveillance tapes to uncover who shot and left a cat outside the Rancho Santa Fe Helen Woodward Animal Center, according to NBC. This lucky feline named Wilbur survived the torment of being shot within close range and underwent surgery to remove a pellet from his right eye. Wilbur is nearly fully recovered and will soon be put up for adoption. Having nine lives definitely has its advantages

Pays to Look Good: Rancho Santa Fe model, mom, and owner of new Daniela Boutique is bringing Rancho Santa Fe shoppers one-of-a-kind styles that can’t be found anywhere else in San Diego. Whether it’s a $100 tank top or a $5,000 red-carpet gown, Danielle Martin is helping Rancho Santa Fe locals look fresh off the runway—literally. Save your air fare cash and head to Daniela Boutique for European looks at home in San Diego.

Support for Tommy: San Diego North County community members from Rancho Santa Fe, Carmel Valley and Del Mar have joined together to support Tommy Mallon, a senior at Santa Fe Christian School who broke his neck during a lacrosse game, according to San Diego Ranch Coast News. Noted by his peers and couches as a “tough kid,” Tommy appears to be doing well—fighting his injuries at the first vertebra of the neck where the skull and spine connect. Locals are getting their updates at his family-updated blog, www.tommymallon.blogspot.com . We wish the best for this tough Rancho Santa Fe local.

Recession Real Estate: Looking for a new home? Rancho Santa Fe definitely has you covered, according to Ranch Coast News. Conditions are ideal in this North County city—with 338 homes alone listed last month. There’s no better time than now, according to K. Ann Brizolis, executive Director of Real Estate at Prudential California Realty’s Rancho Santa Fe Office who claims that “there will never be this much good product, [and] this much good inventory. There’s a lot of choice right now for buyers.”

Only the Best: The Art Jury for the construction of R. Roger Rowe School, a future school to be located in Rancho Santa Fe, is looking for “the best possible designs” according to Rancho Santa Fe News. The $34.5 million construction of the school is to begin this month, but Art Jury President Paul Slater strongly feels that there are additional items to be added that can by funded by the community. Ah, only the best, for Rancho Santa Fe.

New Metropolitan Man: Troubling money issues got the San Diego Metropolitan, a local monthly business magazine, up for sale. Who’s the lucky owner now? According to NBC San Diego, it’s none other than savior Bob Page of Rancho Santa Fe, a former newspaperman who also took over the North Park News. Page will make some constructive changes to The Metropolitan, distributing it to be more of an “urban book” than a business monthly. Thanks to Page, another print magazine is still alive.
