2007 San Diego Monster Bash

Published : 10/9/2007 by Michelle Guerin

You're never too old to trick-or-treat in San Diego. While suburban housewives may look twice at your mismatched pirate costume twenty years past its prime, numerous San Diego clubs and venues will celebrate your erratic holiday spirit.

As soon as one wanna-be autumn leaf falls into the sand, dark dreams of one famed Halloween party fill the minds of San Diegans county-wide. Sure, there are new haunted kids on the block, but any local will surely tell you San Diego's Monster Bash is the ultimate Halloween block party.

2007 Monster Bash in San Diego is corrupting the Gaslamp Quarter Saturday, October 27 from 6pm to midnight. Crazed San Diegans in their best Flight of the Conchords dubs and Britney Spears-memorial get-ups will battle in the $3,000 cash prize costume contest, jam to Halloween hits with tenacious locals paying tribute to Paris Hilton: The Prison Days, and rub shoulders and tails to Reganomics and The Trip live on the Main Stage, as DJ Wonderbread, DJ Brent Bartel, and DJ Cobra spin on the Day of the Dead DJ Stage.

Monster Bash guests are also free to exit the mayhem and trick-or-treat the way the Halloween spirits intended. The top 30 Gaslamp bars and venues, such as The Bitter End, Café Sevilla, Henry's Pub, The Lime, Martini Ranch, Mister Tiki Mai Tai Lounge, Dussini Mediterranean Bistro, and more, feature free cover, drink and food specials, and additional costume contests throughout the night.

Best Event!

I’ve been going to this event for the past 5 years, it is by far the hottest Halloween party around! This event always features San Diego’s best DJs, sexy Go-Go dancers, Southern comfort drink specials, live bands and an awesome costume contest giving the winner $3000! I’ve been trying to win this event for the past 5 years, perhaps this is my year. This is by far Gaslamp’s best event, you shouldn’t miss it!

Monster Mash

Halloween has always been one of my most favorite holidays, every year, around July, I start planning my Halloween costume. I have never been the type to run out and buy a generic costume in a plastic bag; every year, each costume comes together with careful planning. I have been everything from Oliva Newton John in the “Let’s Get Physical” 80’s hit music video to a completely blue smurfette. With all the planning I put into my costumes, I have gone to quite a few fun Halloween parties in the San Diego Area. Although each year there is a new array of parties to attend, I personally like Monster Bash downtown in the Gaslamp. For $20 the drink specials are always a good value, you can party and drink in the streets and there is always good entertainment. I will definitely be attending this year’s Monster Bash on October 27. I am quite pleased with my costume this year, perhaps it’s my year to win the costume contest.
