A split personality disorder is obviously an issue in a human's brain, but for some reason it just works at a particular bar in North Park. The Bluefoot Bar and Lounge features two bars with two different sensibilities.
One side of Bluefood is a swanky lounge with greatly understated lightning, plush booths, and captivating artwork lining the walls. The other side of Bluefoot is a dive bar with a pool table - and that's about it. If you walk into Bluefoot wearing expensive clothes, you know where to go. If you walk into Bluefoot with jeans, a hoodie, and one of those inexplicably dated chains connecting your wallet to your belt, you know right away wear you belong.
When we go out in San Diego, we usually know before we leave our house exactly the environment that we want to see ourselves in. For most people that hang out in the pool hall side of Bluefoot, going to the "otherside" is out of the question, unless you randomly recognize somebody you know. Because the bar only serves the pool side, swanky lounge socialites have to cross the clearly defined border between the people who are projecting their value in being comfortable, and the people who are comfortable projecting a level of comfort in looking like they are in a Friends episode, just to get a drink.
Even though Bluefoot Bar and Lounge is quite literally a divided home, it does feel comfortable. Both sides of the bar have beautiful plasma screens making it an intentionally adequate sports bar. If you get a good buzz going you can zone out on a relaxing game while listening to a DJ spinning mellow party grooves. Something doesn't have to make sense to be good, and Bluefoot is the best example in town.
