Our favorite San Diego nightlife gurus are at it again!
The space formerly known as Aubergine is undergoing a multi-million dollar remodel, designed by Davis Ink and managed by RMD Group – the team behind the re-inspired Side Bar.
Aubergine was once one of the hottest clubs in San Diego, until such new venues as Envy and 207 entered the scene, causing Aubergine to fall out of the spotlight and eventually close its doors for an undisclosed future renovation. Situated on the corner of 4th and Island in downtown San Diego, this 11,000-sq. ft. space is slated to re-open Winter 2010 as FLUXX – a high-end dance club.
Let's look back with these nostalgic Aubergine party pics.
Anyone who has partied at Aubergine knows there is no limit to this venue’s potential. Davis Ink and RMD Group are said to be putting the emphasis on organic design and state-of-the-art visual and auditory elements. You can look forward to a new, open floor plan and circular dance floor in addition to a cutting-edge lighting and sound system by Sound Investment AV and SJ Lightning, the industry pros behind the insane dance floors at Cielo in New York and Tao in Vegas.
In short, say goodbye to the old Aubergine’s stuffy interior and divided rooms and get ready to dance all night. We can’t wait for the new FLUXX in San Diego! But, what does the name mean?
“The name FLUXX is a tribute to the ever-changing nature of the venue,” said Managing Partner Jeffrey Fink of building owner 500 4th LLC. “With the new venue, we’ll introduce monthly changes that keep FLUXX in an exciting, constant state of change; attracting new crowds of stylish, chic clientele and keeping it the hottest nightlife destination in the city.”
Behind the Scenes with RMD
RMD Group, a merger of entertainment entrepreneurs Rodrigo Iglesias, Mike Georgopoulous and Dave Renzella, will manage FLUXX. This team has been involved with top San Diego clubs, including Side Bar and Stingaree.
