Unless you're a North County local, Jimmy O's is probably not the first choice destination for an evening holiday.
Although Del Mar is stereotypically known for its vast offering of "cougars" and "manthers," it does have a little something to offer in the department of late night entertainment. Surfers, youngsters, Del Martians, and any or all the above enjoy the little North County hotspot, Jimmy O's. So if you're looking to mingle with young professionals or the newest generation of home warming housewives, Jimmy O's just might be the place to socialize.
Day to night, weekday to weekend, Jimmy O's is always entertaining whether it be putting on a shameless Karaoke fest on Tuesdays, getting down and going back with live DJ house music sets on Thursdays, or doing the top 20 dance hits on Fridays and Saturdays.
Somehow, in the middle of coastal Del Mar, tucked away on a side street off Highway 101, this bar provides all the basics that go along with any good watering hole. Jimmy O's has gone so far as to include everything from an eatery to a dance floor, making it possible for locals to enjoy all the benefits of a night on the town without ever leaving the neighborhood.
The bartenders are friendly, the bar is two stories, yet cozy, and the beers are reasonably priced. Thus this venue will no doubt be hospitable, but beware: Jimmy O's is a place where the bartenders will be the first ones to help you roll your eyes back and the bouncers will be the first ones to assist you to the door. Not to say that everyone should be on their best behavior, but hey - Del Mar has always been a place known for its appearances.
Insider Tip: Josh Holwerda is definitely the most entertaining bartender by far and makes the meanest Scooby Snack this side of the West Coast.
