Downtown San Diego's Red Circle Rotates Full Circle - Yet Again

Published : 10/19/2007 by Kelli Enger

Downtown San Diego's Red Circle has come full circle - yet again. The newly remodeled Gaslamp club officially reopened its doors Friday, October 12, 2007. Gone are the gallant Russian inspired fury walls of yesterday; replaced with a new interior design, revamped gourmet menu, and top-of-the-line sound system and DJ booth.

The new Red Circle is the collaborative effort of San Diego nightlife entrepreneurs Paul Parente (Pauli P), Phillip Drew, and William de Peralta. With the goal to change the face of Downtown San Diego nightlife, the fierce entourage re-introduces the Red Circle like you've never seen it before.

Beyond the fur-less interior, even the Red Circle staff has changed. New staff members went through intense training to provide guests with a new era of elite customer service. And the new staff even looks better due to the new designer uniforms created by the fashion consulting firm Donestyle.

Red Circle presents an eclectic interior; old and new become one, creating a truly unique atmosphere. Candles suspend from brick walls; disco balls and chandeliers glimmer between large stone columns. And look for the work of San Diego photographer, Eric Drotter, displayed in an oversized antique frame; rotating within view on the five minute mark.

One of the many official reopening parties featured the Musselman Brothers in the DJ booth, accompanied by a saxophonist tearing it up on the pipe. The new sound system features earthshaking EAW Avalon technology. Red Circle is now focusing on bringing a unique sound to the Gaslamp that will be unlike any other downtown club. So, be on the look-out for new international and domestic DJs stopping by many nights of the week.

The Red Circle kitchen chefs, led by Chef Antonia Gonzalez Angeles, have refocused their menu to feature small dishes perfect for sharing, or not. The ideal time to sample the new menu is happy hour. Thursday through Saturday from 5pm to 7pm, the Red Circle offers 25% off food, half-priced wine bottles, $5 cocktails, and free edamame.

In celebration of the reopening, Red Circle is hosting a "Grand Opening Series" throughout the month of October. From fashion shows to special guest DJs and performances and a Halloween party - it'll be rough to not notice the groundbreaking introduction of Red Circle in downtown San Diego.

Red Circle's menu promises to excite your palate without filling you up. Taste the best from the Red Circle kitchen:

For starters: Artichoke dip with pita
Main course: Rib eye wrapped enoki mushrooms
Top it off: Homemade crème brulee
