It’s not your typical bar fight when elimination rounds, secret alcoholic ingredients, and bartenders-who-regard-cocktail-making-as-high-art mix for the El Dorado Bartender Challenge.
On Tuesday, Nov. 27 two-time reigning champion Anthony Schmidt (the drink scholar over at Noble Experiment) takes on peers from Seven Grand, Prohibition, El Dorado Cocktail Lounge, Craft & Commerce, The Lion’s Share, Saltbox, and Starlite.
The judges have strong livers (including DiscoverSD’s Michelle Dederko). The pump-the-crowd-up emcee is U-T San Diego’s Chris Cantore. And the craft cocktails are $5 through 9 p.m.

The winning cocktail from last year's Bartender Challenge: Doblón
1.5 ounce Scotch
1ounce Fino Sherry
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
3/4 ounce honey syrup (3:1 honey to water)
Preparation: add all ingredients to a shaker can. Briefly shake. Strain into a chilled, ice-filled, rocks glass. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
