As more ultra-glam nightclubs open in San Diego’s buzzing Gaslamp Quarter, party-goers no longer just flock to the newest hotspot.
Rather, we are getting smarter and expecting more from our entertainment venues. In years past, locals would put music preference aside in honor of swanky décor and a sizzling hot crowd. But thankfully, those days are far behind us, as San Diego clubs are now finding identity through music, and in turn, attracting faithful fans that are first in line to fist pump, or get low.
If House gives you a headache and you’d rather dougie up and down the dance floor than ever encounter a real live fist pump in action, it’s time to dust off your apple bottom jeans, slip on those boots with the fur, and discover your new favorite Hip Hop dance club in San Diego – F6ix.
An unstoppable force in San Diego nightlife, the RMD Group is back at it, catering to locals like me who are down to rave out to Deadmau5 on any given Sunday, but need a strong dose of underground rap to remain sane. Holla! If you don’t know, shame on you; the RMD Group is the successful development and management team behind two downtown venues you may have heard of – mega-club FLUXX and ultra-lounge Side Bar. In addition to incredibly sleek and sexy interior design, FLUXX boasts a star-studded lineup of in-club celebrity performances every single month. And we're not talkin' D-List locals. If you like Hip Hop, you just might be familiar with a few names on FLUXX’s resume: Method Man, Common, Naughty by Nature, Snoop Dogg, Too Short and many more.
So it only makes sense that the no-no-no-notorious RMD Group would follow their Hip Hop loving hearts in the pursuit of their next venture. Dedicated to all things Hip Hop, past and present, F6ix will be consistent in musical appeal, while raising our standards for production and atmosphere, courtesy of SJ Lighting Inc. and OCIO Design Group, respectively. From the point of entrance on F Street and Sixth Avenue, party-seekers will travel down a staircase and enter the vibrant 6,000 square-foot dance club, complete with a 50-foot-bar, bi-level VIP bottle service tables, and a prominently situated DJ booth that overlooks a central dance floor, where all the action will go down. OCIO polished this venue with rich colors, metallic, mirrored and wood textures, and plush VIP seating that is further highlighted by SJ’s soft blue, pink and red lights that illuminate the club on beat with current jams.
Opening Spring 2011, F6ix will soon be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights starting at 9pm. Or, head in early and get a taste of F6ix’s contemporary menu of shared plates and craft cocktails.
