In support of the OMBAC Women's Water Polo, the Local Eatery and Drinking Hole in Downtown San Diego is hosting a San Diego Co-ed Flip Cup Tournament Saturday, October 20th at 7pm.
Usually played at frat parties, Keggers, and anywhere near Pacific Beach, Flip Cup is a highly competitive relay drinking game.
You begin playing Flip Cup with two teams of 6 players (2 of which must be female). Each member fills a red party cup about a quarter full of beer (amounts vary) and sets the cup in front of them. The first two competitors on each team pound the beer in their glass as fast as they can. When finished, they set the cup right side up on the edge of the table with a portion of the cup hanging off. They then hit it upwards to try to make the cup land upside down (flipped onto its top). The team member next in line can not begin until the previous player's cup has been flipped upside down. The first team to turn over all its cups correctly wins.
All Flip Cup teams must have creative names and uniforms (these are the same guys that do Over the Line, so feel free to go nuts with both). There will be prizes for both Best Team Costume and First Place Championship.
Get to the Local early to sign up, and take the trolley (Blue line to Civic Center, 2nd and C, go east 1 block) to avoid both parking hassles and DUIs. The cost is $15 a player, and each team must pay the $90 in full before participating. To reserve a team, contact Mina at 858-344-3827 or email mina@thelocalsandiego.com
