The Real Industry Night at FLUXX

FLUXX is now a household name, known to the masses as downtown San Diego’s answer to upscale nightlife. But just because we’ve grown accustomed to FLUXX’s high standards of décor and talent doesn’t mean we should appreciate them any less. Case in point, just last week at FLUXX I stood on stage with Nas as he serenaded the packed club with hip hop anthems. And although I wasn’t surprised, I sure as hell was one happy party girl.

It’s a simple fact that nowhere else in San Diego can you party with so many celebrities on any given weekend. FLUXX brings in the big names for a variety of special events, including weekly Electronic Dance Music parties and bi-monthly Industry Night parties. I’ll be first to admit that the “Industry Night” label is far too often used and abused in our city, but FLUXX is one venue that brings meaning back to the occasion and gives our local industry crew the blowout bash they deserve. Rather than a standard off-night with local talent and drink specials per the usual, FLUXX upgrades Industry Night with a surefire formula of exclusivity, celebrity and secrecy.

FLUXX presents an Industry Night party every other month, typically coinciding with seasonal holidays. On this special night, FLUXX promotes a surprise celebrity performer, but keeps the artist absolutely top secret until seconds before the spotlight hits the stage. Just a few of the surprise performers have included Method Man (top), Too Short (left), Naughty by Nature, Juvenile, Vanilla Ice, The Pharcyde and Mims. And trust me, if you stay home and wake up the next morning to the brutal realization that you missed an intimate concert with hip hop icon Method Man, you will never let it happen again. Thanks to Mike Drummond, the talent scout behind the scenes of RMD Group, Industry Night has an untouched reputation, and the element of surprise always keeps the party people coming back for more.

“The industry crowd is such a diverse demographic so it's hard to please everyone and that is one reason we make the performer a surprise,” FLUXX's Entertainment Director Mike Drummond explains. “The element of surprise is an important part of the party atmosphere because it keeps everyone guessing. Every time an industry night is approaching I'll start to get phone calls and text messages from people asking... and sometimes begging for me to tell them who the performer is. It's become sort of a game within the industry crowd to try to guess who the performer will be.”

The upcoming Industry Night X is going down on Monday, January 2nd, celebrating Industry New Years. DJ Brett Bodley will get the party started, building anticipation for the Surprise Performance. But, who will it be?

Mike Drummond gives us a helpful hint: "It's hard to give clues without giving away who it is, but I can tell you this artist has their own clothing line and had a #1 album last year."

After a long weekend of New Year’s Eve parties, Industry Night X is the industry crowd's turn to let loose. Come and see why FLUXX received New Club of the Year in 2011 by Nightclub & Bar Awards. For VIP bottle service reservations, call 877.722.1051 or visit FLUXX. Get more details here.
