We’ve swam with mermaids, explored exotic rainforests and ventured to the dark side of chains and whips. Under the same roof, we’ve gotten down to everyone from Snoop Dogg to Benny Benassi. At FLUXX, a world of possibilities awaits San Diego. And for three years, the award-winning club has kept our downtown nightlife scene buzzing with constant change.
This month, FLUXX’s three year anniversary is amplified by their recent accolades. Nightclub & Bar Magazine awarded them Best Ongoing Promotion in the Nation for their Ritual theme of last summer, and they’re one of three finalists for Best Nightclub in the Nation. In true party fashion, the team will be collecting that award in Vegas the day before the official anniversary party.
“It has been a great feeling to be part of a company that continues to be recognized by the Nightclub & Bar Awards for the dedication and hard work of our staff and management team,” said Entertainment Director Mike Drummond.
While the themes garner national recognition, it’s the celebrity guests that keep locals and out-of-towners flocking to the corner of 4th and Island Ave. Over the past three years, the nightclub has welcomed in the talents of Usher, Cee Lo, Bruno Mars, Flo Rida, Nelly, Nas, Busta Rhymes and most recently, queen bee Lil’ Kim – just to name a few. On the EDM side of things, they’ve partied to the beats of Benny Benassi, EC Twins, Above & Beyond and Bob Sinclair.
“In addition to our long list of talent that has come through our doors, seeing how our themes and even our creative processes have evolved since Pollination (our first theme ever) is pretty astounding. The day we filled that mermaid tank up and put the tail on a girl really changed the game for us,” said Marketing Manager Sarah Fisher.
So where does the top club go from here? Onto the next theme, of course. With spring officially underway, it’s time to celebrate the launch of yet another FLUXXuation – Nectar. In the land of Nectar, guests will soak in sunshine and explore a sweet floral fantasy. Nature comes alive in pastels, butterflies and charming signature details, creating a romantic wonderland that only FLUXX can pull off. Plus, champagne like you’ve never seen before because…well, why not?
“Champagne campaigns have been changed forever by FLUXX. First we brought you the robot, then the drum carrier of Ritual and most recently you were introduced to the rocket,” said Sarah Fisher. “Nectar will provide a champagne show that has not ever been seen in any other nightclub before.” The big Nectar Launch Party is taking place on Friday, March 15.
Celeb Watch: To help FLUXX ring in year number three, a few jaw-dropping acts are stepping up to the stage. First up, French electro house/pop DJ Madeon will spin at the EDM Three-Year Anniversary on Thursday, March 14. Buy tickets here. Then, your favorite “Thrift Shop” duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are comin’ in hot for a live performance on Thursday, March 21. Pop some tags and buy those tickets here.
FLUXX’s future is bright, bound to push the limits in new ways over the next few years. Creative Director Anna Sindelar said it best. “I only expect this process to build on itself, each theme becoming a new definition of what a nightclub party can be. I love pushing our knowledge as a team and thus the public's expectations of what they will get to see the next time they are in FLUXX.”
