Hard Rock Party Perspective

Published : 3/3/2008 by Alexis Griffith

Skyscraping condominiums, haute hotels, and outlandishly expensive eateries are popping up all over the Gaslamp like colorful toadstools after a neon rainstorm; so much that it is becoming harder and harder to decide which venue to attack first. And the San Diego Hard Rock Hotel certainly isn't doing anything to help sort out the confusion.

Wander into the lobby of the hotel and you might need a map. Like a sleek and suave carnival, the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego offers an array of chic restaurants and urbane late night destinations from ground level to rooftop, poolside. Ramble on down to the Sweetwater Saloon and kick back in the lounge with a frosty pint or a crisp martini and listen to the dulcet sounds of live music on a Thursday night, or get a sultry tan under the moonlight while sipping on a margarita poolside at the Moonstone Lounge.

If you're looking to get to the roots of Hard Rock, buy a ticket and take a ride to any of the upcoming events happening at the Hard Rock Hotel, like the recent Fieldtrip Entertainment MSTRKRFT Party at Legends Stage, located directly above the hotel lobby within an oversize ballroom-gone-electro interior.

Scenesters of all vocation flocked to the venue last Thursday, February 28, 2008 to see the famed DJ duo blow out the speakers and douse the crowd with Crown Royal along with Walter Meego, LA Riots, and Shark Attack. Patrons were surrounded by bars, art, live film projections, and dancing lunatics boogieing to the beat.

Insider Tips:
- If you're going to spend money on a show, which you certainly will if you visit any of the Hard Rock's hotspots, it might be best to wait it out for the opening of Folsom, a cozier, but certainly crazy venue.
- The Hard Rock Hotel suites are ridiculously luscious, and if you have the dough it's well worth the splurge.

Hard Rock Hotel San Diego Rock Royalty

I own a room at HRH SD. Let me tell you how you are treated when you are "rock royalty" then you can imagine what it's like to be just a guest. Well, you get things stolen from your room with no apology - you get falsely promised tickets to an event and told about it at the last minute - you get told that you can't eat at Nobu until after you check out, and you can't get a drink at Moonstone THREE TIMES - you can't even show your guests what Moonstone Lounge looks like - no entrance granted - you get to watch security yell at the valet mgr about where employees park - you get to self park across the street on your own - you get to wait for 45 min to get a table for breakfast even though there are plenty of open tables and even seats at the counter because "we haven't got enough waitresses and the cooks can't keep up" - you get to be ignored when trying to buy a simple coffee to go - you get to wait at the front desk to check out early in the morning and wind up having to go behind the counter to the office in the "green room" that isn't green to find the front desk and security personnel watching Family Guy on a computer - I could on, but do you really want to pay over $300 a night for this? I don't. But I get to pay over $4000 a month for it, because I'M A MEMBER OF ROCK ROYALTY. Yay!

Have you Voiced this to them?

BSide, What have you done to see if they can rectify any of this? That's important for people to know if you have complained to management and what they've done about it. Most hotels of this caliber are pretty gracious when this stuff is brought to management's attention. Unfortunately those in less high up positions tend to operate without as much consideration.
