Pacific Beach is like the Bermuda Triangle of San Diego. Once inside, you may never make it out again.
Try and drag a familiar friend out of the comforting security blanket that is Pacific Beach and one may encounter a force of resistance unlike any other. Yet who can blame the inhabitants of this popular little beach town, with their crumbling apartments and run-down 3-bedroom houses with appliances dating back to the 1960s. When the beach is this close how could one dare to live anywhere else? Miscellaneous suburban streets, apartment buildings and taco stands are just a few of the remains that make up Pacific Beach, home to the never-ending house party.
Bar West, an establishment that has attempted to bring a little bit of Gaslamp class to the puerile streets of PB, has finally succumbed to the, "if you can't beat em' join em'" mantra, by keeping the vision of inestimable youth vibrant with the all-new House Party Fridays.
Bar West, a nightlife venue known for its upscale flair and vintage vibrancy, has managed to merge all the fundamentals we love about Pacific Beach into one chic gathering without the irritating elements that follow the rituals of a "house party;" i.e.: risky restrooms and the "off-limits" liquor cabinet.
Every Friday night Pacific Beach patrons can feel free to indulge in all the aspects of the house-party from the red Solo cups to the Jell-O shots to the hand-drawn flyers and the crowded dance floor. Bar West has managed to recreate everything we love about the house party, minus the house. And the drink prices, staying true to PB, do not exceed the local limit, even for a venue this sophisticated.
Insider Tip: For all the worshipers of downtown who cannot bear to part with their Italian loafers, the bottle service at this social gathering is fairly reasonable compared to Gaslamp prices.
