New: Live Music & Dive Bar Bottle Service at Thrusters

Posted On : 5/3/2011 by Ryan Eisenacher

Since first opening their doors over 10 years ago, Thrusters Lounge in Pacific Beach has been providing locals with a slice of sweet San Diego beach lifestyle. Located one block from the sand, residents flock to the revered dive bar not only for its affordable drinks & quality entertainment, but its easygoing hometown feel.

Whether you're throwing back a dozen shots of Rumpiez with friends, cramming into the itsy bitsy photo booth to take licentious photos with some perfect stranger, or shaking your ass on the dance floor while belting aloud that chains and whips excite you, you are always guaranteed to find a quality time at Thrusters.

What’s the Happs: If you aren’t an in-the-know PB local, you may not be privy of Thruster’s recent remodel in late 2010. It’s still the same Thrusters everyone knows and loves, just a little bigger, badder and sexier. And now, get ready for an action-packed summer, because Thrusters is turning up the heat even more and bringing we beach enthusiasts a kickass lineup of fun and excitement.

Are you over the pricey pour scene? I don’t know ‘bout you, but I sure as hell ain’t in the same “Yes, I’ll have six magnums of Veuve to spray on the crowd, please” tax bracket like the majority of my dear friends. Don’t worry, if you’re also a pathetic broke ass like me, but still want to party like a rock star, Thrusters has gotchu covered! Thrusters now offers a pint sized version of DIY bottle service that comes with a 375mL bottle of choice of Goose, Patron, Jack or Jameson, plus miniature mixers, ice, cups and a smile. Think snazzy downtown bottle service, except jorts, tank tops and Ed Hardy apparel is totally acceptable. Ha, kidding! I don’t think Ed Hardy will ever be socially acceptable (even if your name is Pauly D and you’re a super awesome DJ now), but on the bright side, think of all the cash you’re saving! Seriously, mini bottles start at just $45! #Winning.

Hungry? Stupid question, of course you are. After a long day/night of boozing, you’ll want to coat your stomach with some hearty grub. Thrusters now collaborates with the neighboring Mad Dogs Cafe to offer a menu of pub fare served daily until 10:30pm. Crafted specifically for Thrusters, the menu boasts burgers and sliders straight from hormone-free, grass-fed beef, paired with fresh baked baguettes and buns. In addition to meaty, cheesy burgers, Thrusters also offers turkey and vegetarian options for those looking to keep things light and healthy. But let’s be honest, who the hell really remembers what a diet is after a haggard, hot mess day of reveling?

You ain't artsier than me: Aside from seriously sweet booze specials and tasty Angus burgers, Thrusters is switching up the usual DJ routine for live music performances and live art showcases beginning this month. On Friday, May 6th and Friday, May 27th from 8pm-10pm, don’t miss out on two special live reggae performances by Sando, local singer/songwriter inspired by the roots rock, dance hall and dub. Backed by some of the best reggae veteran musicians in the San Diego music scene, making up the Irie Vibrations Band, these two live performances are sure to delight the senses. In addition, local artist Cory Schnitzer will be having an art showcase on Wednesday, May 18th that will incorporate a live art aspect as he creates a unique one-of-a-kind canvas on site.

Let’s partaaay! Don’t miss out on chill summer beach sessions at your favorite upscale dive bar, Thrusters Lounge. Located at 4633 Mission Blvd., Thrusters is open from 5pm-2am Monday through Friday, and 11am-2am Saturdays and Sundays. For more info, call 888.815.9469 or  visit Thrusters in Pacific Beach.
