LOUNGEsix Brings New Nightlife Vibe to Solamar Terrace

One the biggest and most comfortable rooftop lounges in San Diego belongs to Hotel Solamar. Yet for some reason the poolside space at Solamar seems to be continually left in the shadows when praise is dispersed to the many rooftops along the downtown skyline.

Perhaps this is because in years past, Hotel Solamar’s nightlife vibe has remained mellow while neighboring hotels such as the Ivy and Hard Rock have competed for the party spotlight. Without local promoters – aside from the occasional special event – the nocturnal crowd at Solamar has consisted of hotel guests and locals in-the-know looking for all the rooftop perks without the fuss. Such was the local reputation of JBar – the old rooftop lounge.

This spring Hotel Solamar is introducing San Diego to a new rooftop: LOUNGEsix. Don’t expect a new design and don’t hold your breath for the launch of new edgy nightlife promotions. The launch doesn’t bring an aesthetic transformation, but the new LOUNGEsix name does represent a change at the Hotel Solamar – particularly a new atmosphere on the Solamar Terrace.

On April 16th Solamar will unveil the new ambiance at LOUNGEsix. Until then, here’s a sneak peak of what's new:

Dog Days at LOUNGEsix

Monday through Friday, from 3-5pm, LOUNGEsix extends an open invitation to dogs and their owners for Dog Day Afternoons, a one-of-a-kind mixer for pooches and their best friends.

LOUNGEsix will create the Terrace Dog Park, an urban oasis featuring cushy dog beds and plenty of comfy seating, just steps away from the hotel’s signature Shore Pool. The culinary experts at Hotel Solamar’s Jsix restaurant will provide treats for canine attendees – signature homemade dog biscuits made using human-grade ingredients. Doggie owners also get their share of Jsix treats with the restaurant’s unique People Biscuits, human treats shaped like dog biscuits.

As owners sip on signature cocktails, dogs sip on fresh water from dishes provided by LOUNGEsix. Even though the Basil Martinis, made with fresh basil from the rooftop garden at LOUNGEsix, are a bit more exciting than water, both refreshments are perfect accompaniments to the skyscape views. Dog Day Afternoons is free to the public and runs every weekday from 3-5pm beginning Monday, April 13th - only at LOUNGEsix in San Diego.
