Let me just begin by saying that whiskey and I are longstanding enemies. We’ve tangoed once or twice in the past and the end result is always me winding up face down in a planter or waking up in the morning wishing someone would give me a lobotomy.
That being said, I was less than thrilled when my dear friend Michelle planted a Pickle Back shot in front of my face during dinner one night at Quality Social and said “You love it, drink up! ” Someway, somehow, I gathered up some gumption and threw it back even though I was in extreme fear of puking on the table. Classy, I know.
Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised with the taste when I slammed that bad boy down. OK, no, I’m lying to you. I still don’t like whiskey (or pickles for that matter), but I can see exactly why everyone raves over these peppery little libations: the pickle soothes the whiskey sting and they kinda sorta make you feel like a badass.
Since its grand opening back in March of 2010, Quality Social has quickly made us reveling locals realize that it’s not just the pickles and the backs that keep us coming back for more and more – it’s the playful juxtaposition of all that we love about neighborhood dives, presented in a new Quality light with no detail spared. With Boones Farm on the menu, a speakeasy in the back, a menu created by a Top Chef recruit who travels with salami in his suit case, and an artsy display of urban toilet portraits in the vintage-chic bathrooms, Quality Social invites you to embrace the deliberate contradictions and create your own new nightlife experience.
What’s the Happs?!
Are you over the pricey pour scene? Yeah. We are too. Lucky for all you broke asses out there like me, Quality Social is ditching the douchieness and doing bottle service right – sans the sparklers and those silly cocktail strumpets – and introducing a totally new nightlife concept: Dive Bar Bottle Service. That’s right folks, you can put daddy's Amex back in your wallet because this snarky approach to bottled booze is, eh-hem ... affordable.
For just 200 bucks, the QS Dive Bar Bottle Service will get you two flask-style bottles filled with your choice of vodka, whiskey or tequila; a sixer of Tall Boys (“The Champagne of Beers” or Coors Banquet Beer) in a complimentary canvas fold-up cooler just like the kind you had when you were a kid; an order of the QS housemade beef jerky and a pack of Marlboro Lights…yes, we’re effin’ serious.
On Wednesdays and Fridays, Dive Bar Bottle Service is half-off. Psssh! 100 doll hairs for so much fun? No joke people, this is fo’ reals. And don't worry all you fist-pumpers out there, QS also has regular bottle service available to help you embrace all of your mockable guilty pleasures.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say you’re gonna need some nosh to go with your booze so make sure to check out the all-new Late Night Happy Hour Snacks. For only $5 or less, Quality Social is serving up a hearty selection of your favorite treats including the Deviled Farm Egg with smoked paprika, Housemade Pretzels with cheese sauce & beer mustard, Hand Cut Fries with aioli, Bacon Wrapped Dates with blue cheese & walnuts, Mac ‘n’ Cheese made with stilton blue, cheddar, gruyere and buttered breadcrumbs, Duck Wings with harissa & cucumber-mint raita or the Chopped Salad with cucumber, tomato, farm egg, scallions, beans, avocado, bacon, goat cheese and sherry vinaigrette.
