Though many new bars come and go in vain, San Diego’s original super-club remains effortlessly timeless, while demanding the contemporary attention of local party-goers and celebrity performers alike. The key to success? Consistent service and smart renovations, when the time is right. And there is no better time than now.
Stingaree is set to unveil the results of a complete first floor makeover in June 2011. Wave goodbye to the upscale restaurant décor, massive circular bar, and VIP table-lined dance floor; this three-story hot spot is now keeping things casual-cool down low, channeling a “sexy librarian” vibe at Guest House.
Stingaree’s first floor is re-designed by Davis Krumins to suggest an avant-garde library mystique, complete with plush, oversize couches and intimate banquets, scattered bookshelves, antique touches, and dim lighting. Living room-style design elements include painted word search walls, custom lamp shade light fixtures, wingback chairs, shag area rugs, and regal velvet drapery. And the perfect complement to Krumin’s vision is custom sound and lighting by tech-leader John Lyons. Think: a swanky version of Craft & Commerce where selective social engineering is inspired through VIP allure. While you won’t be required to don your haute librarian Halloween costume, this revamped lounge theme will evoke a distinct energy and encourage interaction amongst house guests.
“Stingaree has been at the forefront of nightlife, both locally and nationally, since first opening and constantly reinventing ourselves has been the driving force and key to our long-standing success,” said owner, James Brennan. “With the launch of Guest House, we look forward to delivering an entirely new and intimate, yet exciting venue that provides patrons with the standout experiences our team is known for.”
House Party: This re-imagined space isn’t just about looks and attitude; starting the first week in June, Guest House at Stingaree will launch new weekly events, catering to the local crowd with big name talent and femme fatale charm. The Guest House Grand Opening Party on Monday, June 6 featured a 2x4 DJ set by locally based all stars Scooter and Lavelle. See more photos here! On June 22 Stingaree will launch new L.E.D. Wednesdays at Guest House with a DJ set by Sharam. Following opening festivities, L.E.D. Presents – which is the production team behind Voyeur and special events at Wavehouse and 4th & B – will host Wednesdays at Guest House, featuring big name talent every month alongside your favorite female DJs including Brazzabelle and Audrey Napoleon.
